Decorating you bike when you are young, whether for the 4th of July or a neighborhood parade, is so much fun! When you are little your bike is an object of triumph and your ticket to freedom so personalizing it and celebrating it just adds to the joy. All three of our kids are at the age where bikes are exciting so we knew that decorating bikes was something that had to be on our “Old School” Summer Bucket List!
We have a red, white, and blue theme since the 4th of July is coming up, but you can just use whatever you have on hand. We kept things simple with straws on the spokes, crepe paper around the top, and shiny stars on the handlebars.
To put straws on the the bike spokes all you need to do is cut them to size and then slit them up the side with scissors.
I didn’t get photos of the other bikes because it started to rain but on the two that didn’t have streamers we stuck straws in the handlebars with sparkly streamers on them. Ribbons, string, and leftover party decorations would also make good bike decorations!
We may have crossed this one of our summer bucket list, but I have a feeling we will be doing it many more times this summer! Catch up on all of our “Old School” Summer Bucket List fun:

This is such a fun idea! My daughter is just learning to ride a 2 wheeler and isn’t too into it after days she struggles. I think this will be the perfect activity to do that will encourage her and help her get back on.
