Summer is meant for lazy days at the pool and lots of playtime. That’s why I love life hacks. They’re the little tips and tricks that make life easier so there’s more time for fun.
We spend a lot of time at the pool and the beach and this simple summer snack hack has definitely come in handy. It keeps our snacks (and other special items) totally dry. Plus it’s earth friendly–make it once and use it again and again!
Keeping things dry at the pool can be tricky, especially with kids around. The snacks and towels and sunblock and toys all get thrown into the same bag and it’s easy for everything to end up soggy and wet.
That’s why we’re so excited to partner with Horizon to share this DIY summer snack hack!
Pool Snack Hack
- resealable plastic bag
- duct tape
- permanent markers (optional)
- favorite snacks (we love these ones from Horizon)
Having a bag to keep your snacks and other valuables in ready to go makes it much more likely it will get used. Instead of grabbing plastic bags every time you go use the duct tape to make the bag reusable.
Wrap the duct tape along the top of the bag to make it more durable. You can even do the entire bag in duct tape if you’d like. We decide to leave ours partly clear to make it easier to see what was inside, but totally duct taping an individual size snack bag would work really well. You can even use permanent markers to personalize it even more.
You can even use the DIY resusable snack bag to pack a picnic lunch. Keep things cool by freezing squeeze pouches and milk boxes and letting them thaw while you play.
When you are done you can wipe the inside of the bag clean with soap and water and let it dry so it’s ready to use on your next trip!
