If you are a regular reader then you know we like activities that are simple and super cool. I don’t want to spend more time prepping an activity than my kids spend doing it. Not everything we do turns out that way (I’ve had my share of craft fails!) but on the whole the easy engaging activities are the ones we do again and again.
That’s why Asia Citro’s new book, 150+ Screen-Free Activities for Kids, has quickly become a family favorite!
We pre-ordered the book as soon as we heard about it and it arrived last week. My kids were immediately drawn to the stunning photos. Before they even wanted to try any of the ideas they wanted to see all of the photos. I’m the kind of person who wants a big colorful photo next to every recipe in a cookbook so I can understand their excitement.
We like to experiment with play doughs and slimes, but Asia has ones I had never heard of before–Basil Seed Slime, Easy Flax Goo–that look just incredible. Those two are actually taste safe and allergy free too.
My preschooler wanted to try the soap foam so we made it at a play date last week and the girls were mesmerized.
It took me less than 10 minutes to set up from start to finish and they played in it all afternoon. After they were done exploring soap foam they grabbed some toys and turned it into a pretend play setting. A super easy sensory activity full of language and play.
I cannot wait to try another activity from 150+ Screen-Free Activities for Kids!
