I have been loving all of the fun egg decorating ideas for kids I’ve seen this year! One of my favorites was this idea from Super Mommy where she dipped her eggs in chalkboard paint. I wanted to try it with my kiddos, but I was worried that we wouldn’t remember to get them back into the refrigerator.
So instead of chalkboard painting eggs we used egg-shaped rocks! Genius, right? Now they can stay out year round and be used in any way the kids can imagine!

What a great idea! I don’t think I would be willing to paint real eggs with chalkboard paint either, but I love the idea of rocks. We have modpodged eggs before but never painted them.

Thanks Bethany! They love them so much that I’m thinking of doing a large rock for the garden that they can redecorate everytime it rains!

What a good idea to use rocks! I actually thought they were eggs at first.

I loved the idea chalkboard eggs but had visions of hardboiled eggs being left under the couch overnight!

We totally collect rocks everywhere we go o paint! I like this idea because we can change the images….our son was very upset that our daughter painted the cool rock we found that was shaped like a batmobile into a hippo. baha! we can fix that problem with this solution! 🙂

That’s awesome that you collect and paint them! And having a sister paint a batmobile rock into a hippo sounds like something that would happen at our house too!

that is is so cool

Thanks Desiree! The kids have loved drawing on them!

I totally thought these were eggs at first. I love that they are rocks because I have a ton leftover from another project. I’m so doing this. I’m not a huge fan of coloring eggs for some reason, but this is right up my alley. When it comes time for halloween you have to make some pumpkins and ghosts! So many fun ideas.

Pumpkins and ghosts are a fantastic idea!!!
