How nice would it be to turn on the TV or open up Facebook and see nothing but stories full of kindness and hope?People helping each other, working together, and making the world a better place.
Sounds great…but totally unrealistic right? Maybe not.
We all need a little more kindness right now, but we can’t just want it to happen, we need to make it happen. More kindness in our families, in our communities, in our world. Step by step, act by act, we can all do our part to make a difference. Remember even small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference!
Which is why Kristina (Toddler Approved) and I are once again inviting you to join the 100 Acts of Kindness Project. Join in and do good!
If you plan to join in this year, rush over and join our 100 Acts of Kindness Facebook group so that you can stay in the loop and see the fun things we have in store for you this year!
Why do the 100 Acts of Kindness Challenge?
Doing acts of kindness makes you and others feel good. One little act of kindness can start a chain reaction that spreads farther than the doer can see…100 acts by all of us have can an immeasurable difference! We need YOU to join in!
Kristina started the project years ago to help her family and others focus on spreading love. Here is what she says:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is our inspiration for this challenge, which is why we always kick it off on the MLK Jr. Holiday weekend. Dr. King taught about the importance of showing love and being kind… even when it is hard and even when people aren’t necessarily being kind to you. Dr. King taught that LOVE can drive out hate.As we honor Dr. King along with many other great leaders who have taught about showing love and kindness, we encourage you to join us and SPREAD KINDNESS. Spread it in your homes, your neighborhoods, and your communities. Do small acts of kindness together with your families and students and see how these simple acts make a big difference in the lives of other people… and in you!”
How Do I Participate in the 100 Acts of Kindness Project?
- Commit to doing 100 acts of kindness. By yourself, with your family, with your class, with your friends, with your neighborhood, with your school–whatever you choose!
- Join the 100 Acts of Kindness Facebook group. It’s already full of hundreds of people like you wanting to spread kindness. Introduce yourself, cheer each other on, share ideas–make the group your happy place full of kindness and hope!
- Decide how you and your family or group are going to keep track of your 100 acts of kindness. There is no right or wrong way to do it and EVERY act of kindness “counts” there is no act that isn’t “kind enough” for this project.
- Do acts of kindness! Between January 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and February 14th try to do 100 acts of kindness together. I have a list of 100 Acts of Kindness for Kids to get you started!
- Celebrate your good work. On Valentine’s Day or whenever you finish have a celebration of all the acts of kindness you have done.
We’ll be there in the Facebook group and on Instagram sharing our own acts of kindness and cheering you on too! Follow the hashtag #100actsofkindness on Instagram to see what others are doing too! I’m @coffeeandcrayon and Kristina is @kristinatoddlerapproved!
