There is something about paper plate crafts that always makes me smile. And this simple watermelon paper plate craft is no exception!

Make one with your kids this summer–it’s lots of fun and easy enough for all ages to make!

Easy watermelon paper plate craft for summer!

Watermelon Paper Plate Craft

  • white paper plate
  • pink and green paint (crayons would work too)
  • black pom poms, buttons, etc
  • glue

Start by painting the plate pink and then adding a green trim. You can use any paint you have, for this one we used pink liquid watercolor and green washable paint. Red paint would be even more watermelon-y!

Once the paint is dry decide if you want a whole watermelon, a slice or a watermelon triangle. We went for slices so cut the paper plate in half.

Next add the “seeds”. We have really furry little pom pom things in our art cabinet so we used those. We were looking for buttons because I think those would have been adorable too!

And voila! It’s ready to display or play with. It’d be fun to make a whole collection of these for a pretend farmer’s market or road side stand. I love crafts that turn into toys and inspire pretend play!
