Once you discover the joys of brain breaks you’ll be shocked at how well they work to help kids focus. It’s amazing how something so simple works so well. I first heard about brain breaks as an education major in college and immediately started using them myself when I was studying or working on a big project and was hooked.
I used them in my classroom when I was teaching and find them to be extremely helpful at home with my own kids. They are a favorite strategy of teachers everywhere because they make such a difference in kids’ ability to learn and focus, which is especially helpful in today’s high stakes educational environment.
What are brain breaks?
So just what are brain breaks? They are short mini-activities that help kids activate and stimulate their brains. When kids start to get antsy in class or at home a brain break gives them a chance to stop and do something active to help keep theirs brains alert. Something as simple as do 10 jumping jacks can get the wiggles out and help them better focus.
