Welcome to Coffee Cups and Crayons! Fun and useful ideas for modern parents.
(Actually, old-fashioned parents will love them too. I promise.)
I’m so glad you stopped by! My name is Megan and I am a former elementary-high school-special ed-SAT prep teacher turned mom and online writer. And my house is indeed full of coffee cups and crayons. And many, many other odds and ends.
You see I’m apparently turning into my father. And my children are secretly pack rats. Don’t be scared, our house is actually very neat and organized. But, I’ll warn you, if you sit on the couch you’re probably going to find some crayons. And maybe a drawing or two on the cushion. Don’t worry, they wear away on their own just fine and will be gone before you know it. We rarely ever call to have these things cleaned anymore. Unless they’re done in yogurt.
And along with the stray crayon and random glitter you will very likely find partially full coffee cups because I’ve come full circle and become my father. The father whom I used to make fun of for not being able to find his coffee and constantly pouring new ones. Only now I understand. Coffee is such a wonderful (and necessary) creation there is no time to look too hard for the old mugs when there is still more in the pot. Either that or we’re both just kind of lazy when we’re tired.
But enough about my addiction to caffeine and my surprising ambivalence to unsanctioned artwork. You’re really here to find fun things. Easy things. Great ABC activities and cool holiday crafts. Birthday party ideas, acts of kindness and ways to move and learn. And you will because well, that’s what we do around here.
Why should you care what I have to say? Just because you like my ideas. No other reason. While I do have many education certifications (Elementary Ed, Special Ed, Reading Specialist and Family and Consumer Sciences) I only know what has and hasn’t worked for me. A success in our house may very well bomb in yours. But hey, that’s part of the fun. And the process. Because that’s why CC&C is really here, to be a place to share. And the sharing and the process is what’s important n0t the just perfect craft. Although perfect crafts are pretty great too.
