Go Red for Women Blog Hop

Go Red for Women

We are excited to join with some bloggy friends to Go Red for Women today with the American Heart Association! Heart disease is the #1 killer of women and today people and groups around the country are spreading the message about the risks by wearing red and sharing information. Having a healthy heart is something we care a lot about in our family.  My oldest was born with a ventrical septal defect, the wall between the left and right ventricles in … [Read more...]

Valentines for Kids: I’m Stuck on You Printable

Do you make your own valentines?  Download cute printable ones? Buy them at the store? My kids like to make their own valentine cards and like to make holiday decorations.  So today we combined the two with some window cling valentines for kids! The first thing we did was make the window cling hearts.  Yep, those colorful glittery hearts are actually homemade window clings.  You can read all of the directions in my Make Your Own Heart Window … [Read more...]

David McPhail Book Activities for Children

This month's Virtual Book Club for Kids author, David McPhail, was new to us so I am super excited to see all of the fun book activities for children featuring his work that everyone is linking up.  We checked out many of his books from the library, but the one we had the most fun with was Piggy's Pancake Parlor (Action Packs). Piggy's Pancake Parlor is the story of a little pig who is taken in by a farmer family.  Mrs. Farmer teaches him how to … [Read more...]

Squishy Snow Sensory Activity for Preschool Kids

We love fun activities for preschool kids and toddlers at our house so it makes sense that this squishy snow sensory activity is a big hit during the winter! Squishy snow, also called clean mud, is easy to make, fun to play with, and NOT a mess to clean up.  All you need is a bar of Ivory soap, a roll of toilet paper, and 1-1.5 cups of hot water. I set out a large plastic bin and let the kids rip up the roll of toilet paper into it.  Even making it … [Read more...]

Picasso for Kids: Cubist Portraits

Art Projects for Kids: Picasso Portraits

We love doing kids art projects in the style of great artists for the bimonthly Kids Get Arty series. This month we had fun doing an easy Picasso for kids activity-- cubist-style portraits! We went online and studied lots of different portraits that Picasso had done.  We talked about the differences between his work and portraits done by other artists and looked at other cubist style portaits to find similiarities.  The 4 year old, 6 year old and I … [Read more...]
