Spider Party and Play Date Ideas!

Spiders are such a fun theme for a preschool birthday party or play date!  Kids love to sing The Itsy Bitsy Spider song and you can use that excitement for a party theme.  My sister had a spider themed 3rd birthday party for my niece and it was both easy and fun! The key to preschool parties and play dates is to keep them simple and set up multiple stations or activities for the kids to wander around to.  That way the kids can play and have fun … [Read more...]

Easy Spider Paper Plate Craft

Our house is filled with homemade Halloween decorations and one of our favorites are the paper plate spiders hanging in the playroom!  They are super easy to make and can be done by kids of any age. There is no wrong or right way to make a paper plate spider.  I think it's fun to just set out a bunch of supplies and see what the kids come up with.  It's also interesting to do activities like this year to year and see how their creations … [Read more...]

Science Activity: Pumpkin Investigations

Science is everywhere in the fall!  The weather is cooler and it's a great time for little scientists to get out and explore the world around them. We were excited to get our first pumpkins of the fall pumpkins a couple of weeks ago and decided to use them for some scientific investigations! Pumpkin Learning I made the kids a printable to use to record their predictions and estimations about the different properties of the pumpkin and then we … [Read more...]

Halloween Matching Game for Kids

Looking for a simple Halloween kids activity?  We've got one that glows in the dark! Safari Ltd. sent us their Glow-in-the-Dark Halloween Toob to play with and we used it to create a fun matching game! I had originally thought we could make spooky glow in the dark tracks with the figures and try to match those up, but it was hard to make tracks with the figures so we ended up with prints instead. We used Glow in the Dark paint, the figures from … [Read more...]

Sensory Bin for Kids: Halloween Witch’s Stew

Halloween is the perfect time for a slimy, messy sensory bin for kids! For this month's Virtual Book Club for Kids post we read What's in the Witch's Kitchen by Nick Sharratt and then pretended to cook up some of the icky things we read about in the book. The story is an engaging lift-the-flap style book with two different choices on each page, one normal and one gross.  The kids really enjoyed the silly things that encountered in the witch's … [Read more...]

Kids Paper Plate Craft: Black Cat

Paper plates crafts are easy to do and a great activity for a multi-age group.  They are a favorite in our house for play dates or holidays because you can set out the materials and let the kids put them together independently.  This black cat would be fun to make at a Halloween party! We used a black paper plate, construction paper, glitter, googly eyes, a pom and a pipe cleaner to make our cat but you can use whatever materials you have on hand. … [Read more...]
