Healthy Halloween Snacks for Kids
Long time readers know that we love making awesome ideas easy for parents to do and these Halloween snacks are no different. Each of the snack recipes and ideas below use only a couple of ingredients and can be made quickly which makes them perfect for busy families.
These Halloween snacks would also be super fun for a classroom Halloween party. Each is simple to make in larger quantities and fit into many schools’ healthy snack requests. Just make sure to double check any allergy requirements in your child’s classroom and make substitutions if necessary.
You can also make them with your kids after school to extend the fun even further! After all, what snack tastes better than one you help prepare?

Available in 8 different Halloween-inspired designs, they are the perfect addition to a classroom party or a neighborhood get-together.
Signing up to bring the drinks for the class party has never been cuter!
You can make little witches hats water bottle toppers with your kids to get them even more excited about staying hydrated!
How to make the witches hats water bottle toppers:
- Nestlé® Pure Life® limited edition water bottles
- black construction paper, scissors, tape
Cut a small circle from the black construction paper. Trace the top of the bottle in the middle of your black circle and cut out.
Then fold a small square of black paper into a cone shape and tape to the top of the black circle. Repeat for all the bottles. Set the paper witches hats on top of your Nestlé® Pure Life® water bottles and give to your kids!
Banana Ghost Halloween Snack
- bananas
- chocolate chips (we used the dark chocolate ones)
Peel the banana and slice in half width-wise. Use the chocolate chips for the ghost’s eyes and mouth. Repeat until you have enough banana ghosts for everyone!
Jack-o-lantern Orange Snack
- oranges
- edible food marker
Use an edible food marker to draw or let your child draw a jack-o-lantern face on the outside of an orange. You can even use a washable regular marker if you feel comfortable with that too. This is a cute snack to stick in a lunch box or serve after school with a limited edition Nestlé® Pure Life® water bottle.
Pumpkin Themed Mini Pizzas
- English muffins
- cheddar cheese slice
- green pepper
- pizza sauce (optional)
- black olive slices (optional)
Use kitchen shears to cut circles of cheese the size of the English muffin halves. Add pizza sauce to the English muffins with a spoon if using.
Place a cheese slice on top of each half and add a small piece of green pepper for the stem. Melt the cheese in the toaster oven or microwave. Use the olive slices to decorate the pumpkin faces if desired.
Silly Spider Sandwiches
- bread
- round cookie cutter or kitchen shears
- sandwich filling of your choice
- pretzel sticks
- googly eyes (optional but silly!)
Make a sandwich of your choice. Cut it into a circle shape with the kitchen shears or cookie cutter. Stick 8 pretzel sticks into the sides of the sandwich for the spider legs. You can stick two googly eyes on the top to make the spider sandwich even sillier! Just make sure the kids know not to eat them.
Encouraging Healthy Hydration
We are super excited to be partnering with Nestlé® Pure Life® to spread the word about healthy hydration! Living in Florida, with very active kids, drinking water is a daily habit I am very much focused on encouraging.
Making drinking water fun is a great way to make hydration a habit. Just replacing a single 12-ounce, 140 calorie sugar sweetened beverage with water each day for a year can cut more than 65 cups of sugar from one’s diet. And it’s so important for drinking water to become a habit for kids!
Life gets busy, especially during the school year, so I love the idea of fun, kid-size water bottles you can stick in a lunch box or send with the kids on a bike ride to make drinking water easy.
I’m not the only mom who cares about her kids drinking enough water. A 2015 survey¹, conducted by Nestlé® Pure Life®, found that drinking water is one of the biggest “healthy habit” struggles moms have with their kids (38%), even more than struggles like “eat your fruit” (29%), “get enough exercise” (23%), “eat your breakfast” (19%), and “drink your milk” (18%).
The good news is that the same survey showed that healthy hydration is correlated with other healthy habits. The 2015 Nestlé® Pure Life® survey also revealed that kids who drink 4+ glasses of water per day are more likely to frequently exhibit healthy habits, such as:
- Getting their own water when thirsty
- Eating fruits and vegetables at meal times without reminders
- Requesting healthy food and beverage options for school lunches
Yay! Building healthy habits one by one makes a difference!
