My kids love playing with play dough and it is one of our go to kids activities.  They also have become popsicle obsessed this summer.

I thought it would be fun to make some kind of popsicle play dough recipe to for them and came up with orange creamsicle dough!

Orange Creamsicle Dough! A fun play dough like substance kids can play and create with!

How to Make Orange Creamsicle Play Dough

  • 2 cups of cornstarch
  • 1 box orange Jell-O
  • 3/4 cup of vanilla conditioner

We mixed the ingredients together and loved how yummy it smelled!  The kids played with the dough for awhile and then we stuck it in the freezer for a little bit to make it even more orange creamsicle-like!

Orange Creamsicle Dough for Kids! The kids had a lot of fun playing with the orange creamsicle dough and it lasted for 3 days until is got too yucky from playing and taking it in and out of the freezer.  We will definitely make it again!

We also want to try some of the fun ice cream dough recipes out there!  I got the idea to mix corn starch and conditioner from Play Create Explore’s ice cream dough which looks super cool!

For a play dough recipe you can actually eat try our Peanut Butter Play Dough!

Do you have any suggestions for making this non-toxic for my 2’s? Thanks!

What if you just mixed the orange Jell-O with vanilla pudding and thickened it with flour? Just add a little at a time until it’s a mold-able consistency. You can always add just a tiny bit of oil to make it smoother if you need to.

I use the corn starch/conditioner play dough all the time with my twos and eating it has never been an issue. We talk about the fact that play dough is not for eating each time we use it and they learn quickly that there are rules to be followed. I have never added Jello to mine though…can’t wait to try it!

This may be a dumb question but what is vanilla conditioner?

Vanilla scented hair conditioner. We use the cheap vanilla version of VO5 or Suave that I can get for a dollar. Hope that helps!

Have you tried the dollar stores or Walmart? Usually the more inexpensive brand like VO5 and Suave have vanilla.
