Spring is here and we have been doing a lot of planting lately.  The kids love to see their plants growing so I wasn’t surprised when they decided to turn plastic eggs into little seed pots.

Easy Easter Egg Craft--Make Mini Pots!

DIY Plastic Egg Planters

  • plastic Easter eggs
  • hot glue
  • soil
  • seeds

We were so excited to hear that Tinkerlab is starting up her Creative Challenges again.  This month’s theme is eggs and kids are invited to create, make and invent using eggs.

I got out a bunch of plastic Easter eggs for the kids and explained the challenge.  After some brainstorming they decided to make mini-pots out of them.

Mini Planting Pots Made From Plastic Eggs

They problem solved how to keep the egg halves from tipping (attaching them together) and what to use to attach them.  We used hot glue to stick the 6 tops and the 6 bottoms together.

They added soil and flower seeds and water and are waiting to see the flowers start to grow.  Once they get too large for the plastic egg pots we are going to transfer them into larger pots on the porch.

I am a huge fan of the Tinkerlab Creative Challenges because they develop my children’s confidence as thinkers and problem solvers.  It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to create something that you have envisioned and it doing it at the same time as other kids around the world is just plain fun.  I encourage you to join in with your kids or class.
