My preschooler wants to do reading and math “homework” just like her older brother and sister do in the afternoons. To encourage her desire to learn I’ve been getting out busy bags and our homemade felt board for her to play with.
They are great because she’s actively engaged in her own activity and can do them independently which leaves me time to read and work with the older two.
With Halloween coming this Pumpkin Number Matching Busy Bag has been one of her favorites!
This busy bag is so easy to put together you may not even need instructions!
All I did was take a bunch of small orange paper plates and put dot stickers on them for each number I wanted her to practice counting and identifying. Then I wrote the corresponding numbers on clothespins. See? Crazy easy.
To play she counts the “polka dots” on the pumpkin and put the correct stem on the top!
If you are looking for a fun way to play with the pumpkins when you have more space and time try a hide and find game! You can give the kids some of the numbered clothespins and hide the pumpkins around the house or yard. The kids can try to find the pumpkins that match their stems!
