When my second child was about to have his first birthday party, my oldest and I made DIY soap as party favors. It was so much fun and easy to make. They were a big hit at the party and at my house. My kids loved bath time and washing their hands even more with their own soap.
We have made more since but it has been awhile. I thought now was a good time to get our soap making supplies out and make some treasure soaps for kids. Great summertime activity to keep the kids busy and having fun!
Soap for Kids Supplies
- Glycerin melt and pour soap base
- pyrex measuring cup
- soap molds
- lemon essential oils
- fun spaceships or other small toy
How to Make Soap
Start with your piece of glycerin. I cut mine up in small pieces so it melts faster. After I cut it up I let my son add them to our measuring cup. Now I place in the microwave for a minute. Check after a minute. If not melted, try again for 30 seconds until melted. Grab a pot holder because the measuring cup is going to be HOT! The kids can place the toys in the soap molds while the glycerin is melting.
I used the pot holder to get the measuring cup out of the microwave. I now let my son add the lemon essential oils to the melted glycerin. We give a quick stir. Next I poured the melted soap into the molds. Now let them sit until hard. After they are ready take them out of the molds. I store the extra ones in ziploc bags. The ones the kids want to use now go to the bathroom.
Fun and easy to make treasure soaps for the kids. Perfect fun for hand washing or bath time. They also make great gifts.
