When kids are asking you if they can please play a math game then you know its a fun one. Especially if the game isn’t from a store and can be easily made a home for very little time or money like these clothespin turkey math games!
A simple paper plate turkey becomes a hands on game that helps kids practice math skills. Put them in a resealable bag and you’ll have a fun busy bag activity you can use for quiet time or take with you on the go.
Make a Paper Plate Turkey
You’ll need:
- paper plate
- googly eyes
- orange and red paper
- glue {we used a glue stick and it worked well}
- clothespins
Cut out the parts of the turkey – a triangle for the beak, feathers, etc. Glue the eyes and beak to the paper plate. Glue the feathers to the clothespins. This is an easy turkey craft for kids to complete on the own or with a little help from you. Let them cut out the turkey parts and use a glue stick.
Clothespin Turkey Math Games
Number Matching: Write numbers on the paper plate. Write matching numbers on the clothespins. Have your child place the clothespins on the correct numbers on the paper plate.
Practice larger numbers as well.
One to One Correspondence: Write numbers on the paper plate. Draw a number of dots on the clothespins. Have your child work on one to one correspondence by matching the dots to the numbers on the paper plate.
Number Sentences: Write numbers on the paper plate. Write number sentences on the clothespins with answers that correspond to a number on the paper plate.
Create Patterns: Start a pattern and have your child finish it.
Your kids will be carrying these turkey math games with them everywhere.
