The idea behind a busy bag is that you make it once for kids to play with over and over again independently. They’re great for working on skills kids need practice on while giving you a chance to get something done.

The idea behind dinosaurs is that they are super awesome. Even kids who aren’t dying to be paleontologists when they grown are think hands-on dinosaur activities are fun. This simple dino themed busy bag can be made in minutes and played with for years. Really.

Dinosaur Matching Busy Bag

This busy bag can be put together in minutes with just two supplies. Start by taking small balls of the air dry clay and flattening them out on the table with your hands.

Press a dinosaur into each one to create a “fossil” for the kids to match. Let the fossils sit out to dry for a day or two overnight and then they’re ready for playtime.

Place the dinosaurs and the fossils in a resealable bag or small bin for the kids to play with. They can develop their problem solving skills by using the details of the fossils to match each one to the correct dinosaur. Then once matched kids can use both the dinos and the fossils for pretend play and storytelling. You can even hide them all in sand or dirt to add to the fun.
