We love finding ways to make our own products with our essential oils. Recently I was in need of a new hand soap for the kitchen and thought why not make our own since I had everything on hand. Less chemicals and cheaper too. I also love that the kids could help me make the DIY foaming hand soap too.
I just love how it turned out and so do the kids. Lots of hand washing has been going on since we put it out!
DIY Foaming Hand Soap
DIY Foaming Hand Soap:
- orange essential oil- you can use any scent
- castile soap
- liquid glycerin
- foaming hand soap bottle- this was the only one I could find and it worked great for what we needed.
- water
How to Make Foaming Hand Soap
To start we filled the bottle about 3/4 full of water. Then fill the rest with castile soap. Add a little glycerin to the bottle. The kids were able to add soap and glycerin to the bottle.
Last add a few drops of orange or your favorite essential oil to the soap bottle. We used orange for a fresh scent since it was in the kitchen.
Last test it out by taking turns washing your hands. I just loved the feel and scent of our DIY foaming hand soap. The kids love it too. Now they only want to wash their hands in the kitchen sink, lol. We look forward to lots of clean hands over here at my house.
IN THE DYI FOR FOAMING HAND SOAP ONE OF THE INGREDIENTS WAS CASTLE SOAP. IS THIS A NAME BRAND OR TYPE OF SOAP? will any type of unscented soap do when making foaming hand soap?
Castille soap is a type of vegetable based soap. The liquid kind works very well for foaming hand soap. I’ve never tried another kind because it’s kind of a classic recipe so I’m not sure, but it has a bit of a different consistency than regular liquid soap so I’d guess no. You can probably find it in the baby aisle if you don’t see it elsewhere.
What type of liquid glycerin did you use? Not sure where to find it.
