We love to play with slime! Last year we even made homemade Happy Valenslime’s Day valentines for my son to give to his friends.
If you want to play with slime with your kids but are worried about Borax, never fear! I have a super easy Borax-free slime recipe you can try.
How to Make Slime without Borax:
- 6 teaspoons of Metamucil
- 3 cups water
- 6 drops of food coloring (optional)
Dissolve the Metamucil completely in the water by stirring it. It’s fun to dump it into a jar with a tight fitting lid and let the kids shake it until it’s dissolved too!
Heat the mixture on the stove over medium-high heat for about 3-5 minutes. Let it cool and then start playing!
This slime is lots of fun to play with, but definitely messy! It may even stain your hands a little so make sure to dress your kids appropriately while they play.
I have kept this overnight in a container in the refrigerator and it was fine, but I think it would only last a day or two. If it starts to get too watery while you are playing you can stick it in the microwave to thicken it up a little bit.
If you like slime you will like our homemade slime valentines too!
If you make them with the Borax-free recipe don’t put them together until the day of or night before you pass them out. You also may want to warn your fellow parents that they are messy too!
