In our family we believe that acts of kindness are important. A couple years ago we started counting down to Christmas with 24 random acts of kindness and I was blown away by just how good the experience was. Since then kindness has been a big focus and if you ask my kids they will tell you that our family is kindness-y!
I’ve found that focusing on kindness and intentionally doing random acts of kindness as a family teaches the kids more than just to be nice. Viewing yourself as a kind person is empowering and helps kids believe that they are problem solvers and can make a difference.

We’ve created a summer’s worth of kindness for you and your kids to do this year using these free printable random acts of kindness calendars. Some of the acts of kindness are super simple and some are more involved, but all are intended to make kindness a habit in your home, classroom, or camp.
That being said unless you plan ahead it may be difficult to do each of the acts of kindness on the assigned day. Don’t let that stop you! No one says you have to go in order (even me and I wrote them!) You can hang them up and use stickers or Do A Dot Art Markers to mark them off as you complete them.

Before you start doing daily acts of kindness print out the calendars and talk about what you are going to do with your kids. Ask them what being kind means and talk about why it’s important.
Then talk it up! Getting ready to do a kindness challenge is fun. Point out acts of kindness you see and ask them which kindness acts they want to do. Kindness itself is very motivating, but if you want to offer rewards for the month go for it!
There are no rules when it comes to being more kind so make sure being kind adds to your life, not stresses you out. I think you’ll find as you start being more intentional about it that there are more daily kindness opportunities than you realize. Sometimes a hug or a kind word make a big difference.
All of the acts of kindness on the RAK calendars are on our 100 Acts of Kindness for Kids list. If you have a question about what one of the acts of kindness is or want more ideas click on the photo below for the whole list with links to further instructions!
So who’s in??? Comment below with how you plan to use the summer kindness calendars with your kids. Let’s share ideas with each other!

I am a school counselor in a rural, public K-8 school in Chester, NH. I just stumbled upon your Blog and the 24 days of kindness calendar you created last year. I would LOVE to promote this in our school this holiday season. Will you be creating a calendar for 2015?
Thank you,
