This is our third year counting down to Christmas with 24 Random Acts of Christmas and I cannot wait for December to get here!

It has been such a great way for our family to stop in the midst of the crazy holiday season and intentionally do good in our family, our community and our world. To say that it’s been a success for us is an understatement. We highly recommend a kindness advent calendar as a way to slowdown, connect, and do good this Christmas.

So many people joined in with our 24 days of Random Acts of Christmas Kindness that I wanted to create something that would make it even easier do to one act of kindness a day and came up with a free printable Random Acts of Christmas Kindness Advent Calendar!

I’ve created daily graphics for each of the acts of kindness on the calendar and will be sharing them on the Coffee Cups and Crayons Facebook page each morning!

My book, “Embracing a Spirit of Giving,” chronicles my own family’s adventures when I designed a 25-day giving countdown 5 years ago. Based on the concept of an advent calendar, we daily shared love in simple ways as we counted down to Christmas morning. Your post made me so happy when a friend shared the calendar via Facebook! We’re gearing up for our countdown too! Thank you for sharing kindness! Blessings! ~Kelly

Hi Megan, this is a wonderful post! My church participates in Outrageous Christmas every year where we are encouraged to live outrageously with kindness through the month of December. I love the idea of teaching our children the value of kindness during this season that is typically so full of wants of our own. On my blog I am writing a round-up of my top ten advent activities, and plan to link back to your post. I would love to include your picture, if it is alright with you! Again, thank you so much for sharing, I love this!

I already do some of these things thruout the year. Don’t know if I can do all of them in one month. whew…that’s a lot of kindness to spread around! lol. when i go to walmart, i drop a few handfulls of rice on the ground for the birds. i give hugs, i make lunch or coffee for someone, i call someone that needs cheering up…etc. it always makes me feel good to do something nice for someone else.

Thanks for this list! I printed off the chain printables, but instead of making a chain, our elf is bringing one of the slips of paper, plus the “supplies” needed for that task every day. For example, today’s task is “Feed the Birds”. Our elf set up some bird seed in a bowl in front of a bunch of stuffed Angry Birds, with the slip of paper in front. So when the kids get home from school, they can take the bowl outside and feed the birds! Yesterday the elf left paper, crayons, and markers to make letters to soldiers. This way I (I mean, the elf!) can decide which task will be easiest that day depending on what we have going on!

Thank you so much for your Random Acts of Christmas Kindness!! On Day 2 we giggled at the possibility of someone finding one dollar in quarters in the drink refrigerator at a local grocery store. We did Day 4 yesterday due to a timing issue and my 10 year old daughter decided that after Christmas we are going to continue with RAK. She said that each week we should always pick up garbage in the neighborhood and decide on another RAK to do for the week. Thank you for the inspiration and child appropriate ideas that cause them to look outside of themselves!!
